Description

After the session for Working with Natural Light, Kirstie sits down to edit the images in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Every photographer’s editing style is different—that’s part of what makes your photos unique. But there is value in seeing another photographer’s workflow and editing process, especially one that delivers photos with a signature style like the work of successful equine photographer Kirstie Jones. After the photoshoot, Kirstie invites viewers to take a seat beside her computer screen as she works through a session’s images. You’ll go through her process as she culls, uses Lightroom and finishes in Photoshop to edit her photos.

During this 50+ minute video, you’ll learn how she determines what photos to keep and deliver, how she decides the editing steps and which steps she tends to outsource. Bonus tips include placement of horse and rider for most flattering light, retouching, working with sun flare and key processes in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Whether you’re highly familiar with these tools for editing, or you’re just getting your feet wet, you’ll finish this tutorial with new tricks to try and workflow to tweak for your own business.

I loved this course! I started with the Photographing Horses course and wanted to learn more from this amazing photographer and teacher and this course to me was the one I knew I needed. I had gotten lazy in my editing mostly because of lack of knowledge so this course gave me a real boost and helped me to realise that I needed to keep learning as there is so much more to know when it comes to the hows and whys of styles. I have fallen in love with Kirstie’s work and clearly so have her clients which to me means she is the real deal. This course has so much information that I need to keep watching to pick up the little things which I glossed over in excitement getting started with some of the techniques. This is a treasure trove for anyone wanting to be a better equine photographer and in my mind we are blessed to have information such as this from a world class specialist. Highly recommend.

I purchased the Shadow a Session bundle after having the other course in it—Working with Natural Light—recommended to me by another established professional. I’ve never really invested in any equine-specific courses because I felt I’d been doing it for long enough on my own! However, I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of tips and tricks Kirstie presented and took quite a few notes away for my upcoming shoots. Kirstie has a great way of putting pen to paper for a lot of techniques and points to remember when working with your clients. Just wanted to shout out that even as a longtime equine photographer it was worth every penny.
