Pinterest Tips for Photographers

Pinterest is a major driver of traffic to my portrait website www.kirstiemarie.com and has been for several years, even though my “strategy” is so simple and relatively hands-off!

Here are a few tips I have for photographers:

  • Keep it mostly your content. I have about a 90/10 ratio of my images to other peoples’
  • Encourage other people to easily pin off your site
  • Use “rich pins” – images that link to a specific web page – so people can easily find more of the content they are interested in
  • Use relevant keywords when you pin your images to your boards
  • Think of Pinterest as a search engine, not a social media platform

The consistent use of these strategies has averaged me over 600,000 monthly viewers on Pinterest, and over 30% of my total website traffic since inception. For a free platform that takes such little time, the rewards have been tremendous!
