My Rules for Social Media

Social media can be a slippery slope, so I have a few hard and fast rules that I follow:

1. Consistency

Show up with a consistent message on a consistent time interval. Be dependable and cohesive. Need help with your message? Check out my Marketing course!

2. Never Sacrifice Mental Health

If it is too much, don’t do it. I keep my negative thoughts in check and unfollow any account that doesn’t bring me joy.

3. Keep It Positive, Always

Delete negative comments, block accounts that are harassing.

4. I Stay Positive

I do my best to never complain and to always stay positive.

5. Stay True to My Brand

Every post of mine echos my mission statement.

6. Show My Face

Showing my face creates trust, fosters familiarity, and establishes a relationship.

7. Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook

I cannot have every post be a sale. I need to lure my audience with what I am giving them before I ever ask something from them. Here is the book I am referring to.

8. Nothing is Personal

Every single account of mine I treat as an extension of my business, and I abide by these rules. Even if it is a “personal” account, I understand there are clients and potential clients in the audience. If I need a safe place to vent, I take it offline.
